Help! I just got some free 10 day old incubated eggs! *hatching!!*

One has completely hatched, and one more is really working at it.

My first chick is propping him self up over some eggs. What temp should it be in there? It's at 99 right now, is the floor too hot?

99 is fine (at this point trying to adjust it could cause problems) No the floor is fine also, he is just trying to firgure out what his legs are and should be doing (a lot of people use the non slip shelve liner to make it more comfy for the chicks feet) It could take up to 48 hours for the others to hatch

The hum is the thing you should be most concerned about. The chick thats all ready out will be fine in the bator for up to 24 hrs +

Some pip and zip quick and some take there sweet time, the more you want them out the slower they are

Its very common the first to pip is the last out !!

Sorry no pictures, I don't even have a camera phone!

But here is what we have so far!

5 chicks hatched, and 5 more are pipped!

I stopped a tractor supply after church, and bought a feeder and waterer.

Apparentlly the peeps from the kitchen are attracting my cat Roxy...I have to keep a close eye on her!

WOW they are coming fast now huh ?? CONGRATS again on the new ones !!!!

Just wanted to mention to be careful with the water and make sure its not to deep !! Chicks will drowned themself !! They arent all that smart when it comes to that !! If the water thing you got is to deep and you think they might have an issue you can put some marbles in the water and they will drink around that.
