I have a 1 week or muscovy drakeling that I hatched and I was looking at him and he is too weak to walk or hold his head up. I tried to get a piece of feed down him thinking that maybe he never learned how to eat but I don't think that is the problem. I gave him some warm water mixed with Karo syrup to help boost his immune system but there still isn't any improvement. What should I do? I really don't want him to die plus he is one of 2 ducklings that I have right now and he is really sweet and I don't want the other one to get lonely. I'm keeping him in my indoor porch with which doesn't have heating or cooling. Could he be over heating? Also his little friend is acting normal so I'm stumped

He loves being petted. Back when he wasnt not feeling well he would get om my hand and attempt to climb all the way up to my shoulder and underneath my hair. Im going to try some yogurt now.

ETA: Dang it im out of yogurt!

Is he pooping?

When you make him eat, be sure you don't force him. Air holes in ducks are at the back of their throat.

What makes you think it is a male at one week old?

I had a 3 day old Muscovy that was not getting to the food bowl, because of other mom ducks. I brought him into the house and gave him watery mashed peas and 2 days later brought him along with a large bowl of mashed peas back to his mother and all was well. (Got rid of one of the other mom duck that was causing trouble in the duck house.)

It may be a different problem, but try mashed peas and add some yeast. I add Nutritional Yeast to the ducklings mashed Peas or Green Beans. I would get some Brewers or Nutrional Yeast into him. Just sprinkle a bit over the food.

Yes he is pooping (he has a fresh batch stuck to his rear

) and he seems to have a perked up a slight bit. Im pretty sure he is a drake cuz his friend is 3/4 his size with smaller feet and his feet are way bigger.

ETA: I only have the 2 ducklings and they are in a brooder.

I would think that he would need heat if he is in a brooder with just another duckling. I think the temp. should be around 90 the first week and then turn it down 5 degrees each week. Unless Muscovies are different.... Do you have a light bulb over them to give them heat???
