My youngest daughter just came back from her shift at the wildlife rehab centre ( she is new at this) and said there had been another wood duck admitted and a chicken???So I went over to get them and this is what I came home with. Not a Wood Duck (or a mallard for that matter) and definitely not a chicken. Can you help.?[IMG],[IMG],

So how did a duck and a chicken end up together?

That looks like a black duck: which is a cousin to the mallard

They were brought in separately. I took the pretend chicken back cuz the only time he was quiet was when he was on the desk here beside me. There are lots of young volunteers there to keep him company throughout the day. Did not come home empty handed tho'. Someone had just brought in 6 very tiny Mallards. So they have joined the wood ducks in the powder room.

The chicken looks like a Partridge Chantecler (sp?) I have 5 of them brooding in my back room right now. Very pretty birds. These were a special order, but I might have to get myself a few [IMG]
