Help identifying "Big Red"?

If this is an older bird- 6 months or so- I'd say this is a pullet near point of lay. A mighty big pullet. The tail is not quite matching the physcial size of the bird to be a cockerel. However I would not be surprised if you told me this one crowed.

Definitely a rooster. Looks like a New Hampshire or Production Red, with possibly some Orpington because of his white legs.

A young rooster will commonly want to "lay low" when there's already a mature rooster or two or several in a flock.

Looking again at this bird I would bet that he is a New Hampshire/ Buff Minorca cross. [the Minorca would account for the white legs]

Hatcheries are known for crossing Mediterranean breeds to improve egg production and when a fast feathering Mediterranean male is bred to a slower feathering hen the chicks are sex-linked.

I was only trying to speak of my opinion on sex comparing to my RIR hens I'm no expert and clearly u r more informed than me but since that was the closest breed I knew of I thought safe to compare for gender thanks

I bet you're right. He does look more Minorca-y than Orpington.
