HELP If you keep Peacocks..I NEED HELP! Mine hasn't eaten in 7 days!

I found Charlie not one but TWO girlfriends!!!

There was an add on Craigslist of someone that had 2 India Blue peahens that they couldn't keep anymore because of a Cougar problem that killed the peacock mate to these peahens and just wanted them to get a good home.

Now they are safe with me and Charlie! I live close enough to town that I don't have those kind of predator issues...plus, they are now penned and they weren't before.

I will get pics of them tomorrow. This makes up for the bungle of the "culling incident" last Friday.

The new girls even surprised me with 2 eggs this evening! I am sure they aren't fertile since they weren't around any other peacocks, but this shows that they are probably 2 or 3 years old which means I could breed them if I wanted.

This was a good day!

I will be making more perches tomorrow...Charlie seems to like his perch to himself (at least for now).

Charlie's harem! What great good luck! I hope they all adjust to eachother quickly. Do you plan on letting them free range ultimately?

I would love to let them free range, but that will be a while. I have to make sure they know that this is their home now and I need to raise my fence height and clip their wings to keep them in (where it is safe).

I always look forward to Charlie updates. I am glad you found some peahens for him. I will be eagerly awaiting to see pictures of baby peafowl-I have never seen any before. By the way what do they call baby peafowl?

Baby peafowl are called peachicks.
It will probably be a while until I have little ones roaming around, but that is something I have been thinking about for the future. Right now I am concentrating on getting everyone settled in and comfortable. I will now be looking at coop ideas for peafowl and nest requirements for peahens so that when the time comes, I will be ready.

Charlie opened his train today...in fact, he has been flaunting it most of the day and I saw him mate with one of the peahens. Had another egg today.

Here are some pics. You can see how his train has been damaged, but when he gets a new one, it should be all nice again.
