Hey guys I just wanted to see if you could help me identify the sex of my five chickens. I think that I have 3 Roos and 2 Pullets but I'm very new to this and my wife and I are trying to figure this out so we can go ahead and get ride of all but one Roo. I have five chicks in total and they are around 6-7 weeks old. Two are Australopes, two are Delaware, and one is a Dominique. I think that the Two Autralopes might be males but their body's are shaped differently. I also believe that one of the Delaware is a Roo. I'm pretty sure that one of them is not and that the Dominique (my personal fav) is a girl as well. Just take a look and let me know what you think. Thank you so much for helping out!

here are the two Australopes... their tails feathers and body structure is a bit different, then again I have an untrained eye so I'll post two more pics singling them out

my kids call this one Longfeather (the only one they have named so it appears it is the favorite and if it's a Roo the one I'm going to have to keep)

I think this one may be a pullet? I sure hope I don't have 4-5 Roos

This is the Dominique and The Delaware I believe is a pullet
I tried to take a better picture of the Delaware that I believe may be a Roo but my camera died and then the rain came so the first picture is the only one I have. Thank you for all your help and I will be anxiously awaiting your comments.
oh yeah here are all of them together minus the Dom... who was at my feet loving on me and my hairy legs;)

Glad to see you !!!!!!!

I am not that good at the gender thing either so I will leave that to someone else who is a bit better than I am. I had a He/she bird for ages! It ended up a roo boy even though it squated!

So I wont commit myself!

The only sure way to know is - The Hens lay eggs and the Rooooosters crow!!!!

The Australorp in pic #3 (and pictured in some of the other pictures) looks like a rooster. The rest look like pullets.

The Dominiquer is for sure a girl (they can be sexed by color).

it is harder to tell by pictures in the smaller comb breeds. looks like mostly hens and maybe a couple roos. the one barred one looks kind of like a roo but it's not a very good picture with much to compare to. it's kind of harder to tell when there isn't much to compare to. You can tell alot by behavior. it also depends how old they are. i'm pretty sure one delaware is a hen. the one black one looks like a roo.

my Australorp pullet at 16 weeks, yours looks like pullets to me too

They don't have any roo feathering yet...so keep an eye out for that. (they are a little young to see the hackle and saddle feathers)

If you still have doubts, wait another week or 2 and repost some pics, side pics and head shots...we will figure it out for you!
