If you have a pet store or feed store close buy a treat ball you can put meal worms inside and they will have a blast rolling it around on the floor getting the mealworms that fall out. Precious pictures! ❤

Thank you. They eat and drink non stop and get lots of running around and cuddles.
The farmer is a great guy and not to far away so Im sure he wouldn't mind if we brought his flock some treats and said hi. I love their personalities. They are all so different from one anther. They are the best for sure.
2009 was a really cold winter. We did have some nice days and we brought them out but not alot.
What about enrichment? Is there toys and games I should be doing to keep them from getting bored? I know other animals get nervous ticks or stress habbits without enrichment. So far they have access to the tub, they run around the house and have enjoyed exploring the barbie house.

Do they fall asleep easy in the evening? - If yes, they have enough action. Barbie House? Even i didn't had one as a kid…

Yes they do, they sleep very well at night now that we know about the night light. Freddy (Our biggest duck) seems to be very nervous. He doesnt love to be handled but doesnt want to be left alone and really doesnt like the dark. He will squeek loud all night long if the room is dark. Oh my daughter is all about the five star service. We even have harness to walk them.

Yes they do, they sleep very well at night now that we know about the night light. Freddy (Our biggest duck) seems to be very nervous. He doesnt love to be handled but doesnt want to be left alone and really doesnt like the dark. He will squeek loud all night long if the room is dark. Oh my daughter is all about the five star service. We even have harness to walk them.

You need to convince the HOA that your ducks are pets, not poultry! Then you may be able to keep them!
The first ducks i had, were my Indian Runners and i made the mistake and listened to the store clerks and bought a heat-lamp, so they grew up in brightly illuminated nights. Then i started to winterize their house and it became darker and darker in there and suddenly they panicked and refused to go inside. So i had to put up a dim lamp, just 17 watts to keep them comfortable. Last Year i had a Momma Heat Cave for my spring ducklings, so during the night it was dark, not pitch black, just naturally dark and they slept through their nights comfortable and without fear. After they joined the grown up ducks outside, no more night light was necessary for everyone. There is still light shining into the duck-house from our d2d lights, but most of the house is pretty dark overnight and they all love it that way.

Thank you! I wish we could keep the ducks mainly because we love them so much. We have dicided to apply for two of them to be support animals. In our city we cant keep them unless they are regestered support animals. We have started slowly to cut back the night light time so our drama queen duck (Named after Freddy Mercury) can get used to the dark. Needless to say I am very very tired this weekend. Its like having a new baby.

Personally i would stick with the dried meal-worms, because growing meal-worms is a lot of work and it will take one to two months before you'd be able to harvest from your own meal-worm farm. And buying life meal-worms is expensive!
