Help!! I'm overloaded with eggs!!

Well, you could make

1. Develed eggs
2. Egg salad for sandwiches
3. Boiled eggs for quick snaks
4. Jar of pickled eggs
5. 3-egg omlets
6. Veggie & egg quiche'
7. Pound Cake
8. Egg Nog (Yolks only)
9. Angel food cake (Whites only)
10. Boil & feed back to chickens

I put a sign up in front of my house advertising. Put the word out in the neighborhood that I had fresh eggs for sale. I take some to my bowling league every week to sell there. Good luck!! Hope this helps.

I just got my first egg yesterday, so I hope I have your problem soon. We heard of some friends of ours who have 10 chickens (and get 35 eggs/week) who have an egg stand at the end of their driveway sometimes (like a lemonade stand). I am hoping to have some hush eggs to give to my neighbors and to share with coworkers too (just got some cartons from my boss today, she is hoping to get chickens of her own).

I make my chickens 'pay' for their own feed! Yesterday I went to the feed store and bought $34.00 of products, and took the money out of my 'egg money' envelope! That felt good - I take my eggs to Church and sell them for $3.00 per dozen. I have more people there that want the eggs, than I have eggs!

Another idea - find a little restaurant near you, and ask if they'd like to try serving free-range home grown eggs. Show them a little flyer that they could attach to their menu, with photos of the chickens and their names, and the increased price of the local home-grown eggs. They might like to buy eggs from you, it might increase their business! (You could give them a dozen free to try) Just a thought!

My 9 young hens of which only 7 are old enough to lay are giving me 4 to 7 eggs everyday. I share them with neighbors and several families that are needy or out of work.

I donate my extras to the homeless shelter here. They have no food budget (lost their govt funding too) and rely on community donations for all their food.

We have 7 Barred Rocks that are laying age, but only 2 are laying; the other 5 came from a lady whose coop was destroyed by a fox and they are still in shock. Hope the start laying soon; we are only getting 1 to 2 eggs per day.

I regularly sell mine, but will start to have a back log. The woman we were selling to would buy 3/6 oz a week (provided I had that many) for her fair share farm and the weekly farmers market. However the growing season is basically done here in ole New England so her farm is done and the farmers market is down to once a month. We still have some customers and with the holidays coming its nice to actually have eggs in the fridge for a change.

Anyway I'm rambling here. So there are many avenues you can use as most of them are posted by others here. From signs to word of mouth at work, church and organizations. CL and even the local paper. Farmers markets are a good way to sell either you or someone who goes that might not have chickens and you give them a cut. My old standby is the food pantry and they are always looking for donations. Granted you wont make any money and probably cost you but personally makes me feel good inside. Summer was bountiful and the pantry was a on the receiving end of lots of extra produce. Zucchinis and cucumbers have a way of growing when you turn your back. Maybe put a card in the donated eggs, when that person gets back on their feet maybe they will become your customer. Just my 2 cents.

First, figure out how much eggs sell in your area. Here big eggs are between $4-6/dozen. My EE banties are $3 doz.
Next advertise EVERYWHERE. Make some flyers to put up outside of grocery stores, common areas, post office, library, wherever. If you feel comfortable, put a sign on your driveway. If you have a farmers market, go with eggs.

Good luck. I wish I had that problem. I am feeding 23 birds and feel lucky when I get two eggs a day.
