HELP, infection in eye, custard thickness, how do i remove? PIC's

I asked the vet about pain reliever, she said as long as my baby is eating and drinking and otherwise walking around, that pain reliever is not needed. Keep her from scratching at it, and don't pick or mess with it. She said everytime I squeeze or mess with it, it prompts more swelling. Let the warm compresses slowly draw out the infection (if you still have puss) and you will have less swelling. You can alternate warm and cold compresses (if there is still puss) every hour if needed. If its just swelling and no puss, then stick with cold compresses hourly and the swelling will slowly subside.

Swelling with puss = flush, 10 min warm compress, flush, 10 min cold compress, flush, then ointment repeat in 1 hour
Swelling only = cool water flush, 10 min cold compress, cool water flush, then ointment repeat in 1 hour

I know it sounds like A LOT of work, but I've noticed the drainage has stopped and the swelling is coming down slowly. My baby looks bad, but is not acting sick....thank god!!!

His eye looks to be the result of a respiratory illness. The thick cottage cheese consistency is most likely pus, as chickens puss is different from our own. You will need to compress the eye and then squeeze the puss out or it will not heal up. The puss may be hard and stuck around the creases of the eye ball. If it has been like that for awhile it may remove the eye with it over time. Several cleanings may be necessary. Keep up with the Tylan or if it is not improving try LA 200 or get some Baytril liquid. Clean the eye with Bortic eye rinse and treat with neosporine, or some type of eye ointment. Best Wishes

i think floridaoe is gonna come down and help me!

The third eyelid is the transparent lid you see when they don't "close" they're eyes. Is the infection under that lid? If you could gently press out from the inner part of the eye to try to remove some gunk.....but if it's hard, you might want to get a vet's attention. Maybe keep flushing it til you can get her to see a Doc. Are you giving her some extra vitamins in her water? Maybe that'll help? I hope she gets better! Poor baby..

I have him on vit's and my friend who is better at this is coming down friday. I am gonna get vetrx and he is gonna help me get this stuff out!!!! I have up'd his injections to 1/2 a cc for 3 days. His spirts are great i am just really concerned about the pressure. I can't even see the eye, just yellow custard stuff! I am keeping it moist with ointment and flushing iodine on it. This has been the scariest thing ever with my chickens!!!!!!!!
