Ya, that doesn't sound like coccidiosis then. She is eating and drinking with no problem. All the other severely injured hens seem to be doing well in the pen
I hear what you're saying... to a degree. What's this talk about animal control?
This is your neighbor, correct? What about being a good one to this person?
Your neighbor has trusted you with their birds and let you into their yard to care for them... that right there tells me the neighbor is concerned and cares for their birds at least reasonably well. They didn't take off on vacation and leave the birds without any care or anything. Why then, would you stab your neighbor in the back by calling Animal control? It doesn't matter if their care standards are not the same as your standards. Food, water, shelter. Sounds like the neighbor has the bases covered.
Well, I think it is very noble of you to step up to the plate for the animals and birds being neglected by your neighbor. What a terrible ordeal for you, especially since you obviously have a tender heart toward the critters. My suggestion is to call the Humane Society, not the animal shelter. If there is no local Humane Society, try the National Humane Society. They are always getting money from us to care for all these neglected animals. Hopefully, they actually will come out and take care of the neglected animals you are concerned with. I worked for a local HS before and I can assure you they would. That was in Jacksonville Florida. Depending on your area you may or may not have one. Good luck to you and thank you so much for caring for the animals and birds.I just wanted help to take care of this baby not to be criticized for trying to do so.

I will try that! When I get home I will try to upload a better pic of the wound.I think you should just do the iodine and antibiotic at this point.
Prolonged use of peroxide has been shown to slow healing.
(Learned that when the end of my thumb was lost to a work injury.)
As to the blood...I have no answers but would definitely try the corid.
Sorry about your neighbor being such a not good neighbor.
After initial cleaning... peroxide (and iodine) is not preferred to be continually applied...I will try that! When I get home I will try to upload a better pic of the wound.
First off, this lady is NOT my friend. And she didn't entrust me to take care of the animals. She just wants me to make sure her house and Bill's get paid. She has starved and killed her horses, shot her pigs ba people complained about flies, and takes newborn kittens and throws them in the woods so she doesn't have to deal with them.
I AM being a good person by BUYING FOOD for her animals and feeding them and watering them. I take HER animals to the vet without being paid back.
THAT IS WHY THERE IS TALK ABOUT ANIMAL CONTROL
Plus she told me she would be gone a week and has been gone two months!

I'm not a seasoned enough chicken raiser myself to guess what is wrong with the hen, but I sure hope you are able to help her.![]()
Many of us will treat what we can ourselves but are not able to take most our animals to the vet. If we can't treat the wound or illness... we euthanize.she clearly doesn’t want to buy food for any of her animals or even take them to the vet.
