Aww that is so sad. Wrapping her in a towel is a pretty good way of managing them when we have to doctor. Poor little one

Sorry for your loss looks like a raccoon tried to rip off the head. The bill won't grow back anyway I did see a bird on DR K once that lived with a lot of a beak missing.She did not make it, the damage was much worse than it first appeared. Appreciate all the help though. I am still not sure what happened to her. It looked way too bad to be from getting caught on wire or something, but also I have never seen a predator attack a bird in that way. Anyone ever seen something like that?
I had a raccoon kill one of my Khakis last year at 2:30 in the afternoon and was chasing the rest down the road.She was fenced in, I have about an acre or so of pasture/woodsy area fenced off that my flock shares with a few goats. I'm a little startled that this happened because it was still light. I've had a mink drag away birds in the daylight before, but never a racoon. Thanks for all the support though, you have all been really helpful.
