My female duck has a spot on her that’s missing feathers and scabbing over. It’s located on the middle of her back under her wings. I found the spot yesterday and photos were taken today. She lives with my drake and they’ve been mating a lot so i’m guessing it’s from him, but i’m not sure! If you know what it is or what to do please help!

I had something that looked pretty similar on a rescue feral duck that I have. At the advice of some other people on this forum, I rinsed it out with some warm salt water every day, and applied neosporin. Within a few weeks it was healed up nice. Do you only have one female duck? If you do that is likely the reason she is over mated and you will need to get more female ducks. Keep them separated until she is looking better.

Thanks for the tips! And yeah, it’s just her and the drake. Unfortunately it’s hard to find sexed ducklings or grown ducks for sale in my area! I’ll keep searching for more females, and i’ve definitely been keeping them separated.

Check your local Craigslist in the for sale section, if you find a few grown ducks you will be able to tell what sex they are. There are always at least some ducks for sale on the Craigslist near me so worth a shot to check it out

What area are you in? I am also looking for female ducks for my drake.
