This morning I went out to feed the chickens and found the first hatched duckling lying away from the nest. I thought it was dead because it had a very bad wound on his head and back. As I looked closer the duck was still alive. I took it inside and now it is making peeps and lifting its head. I brought in the rest of the eggs and noticed that all of them have blotchy dark spots on them. Now I am worried that the rest of the eggs are rotten and I NEED some feedback. I will submit some pictures in a bit.

You posted six days ago so there is little I can do to help. I hope the single duckling is dong well. I have seen splotchy eggs at the time of hatching and when the chick/duckling has died in the shell. Did more ducklings hatch? Best wishes.

Thank you for the response, unfortunately the one duckling that hatched got a hernia and we were unable to push it back in so we had to put him to sleep :( The rest of the eggs never hatched and began to smell on day 29-30. I hope next year I will be more lucky...

I hope your next year gives you many ducklings.
