Help interpreting float test of abandoned eggs?

I think I'm giving up tonight :-( No movement during the float test, no pipping, no nothing for 48 hours... either somewhere along the way, or when they were kicked out of the nest when the chicks arrived, it seems like these guys just weren't meant to make it. At least one hatched and it wasn't a total failure. :hit Trying to work up the guts to see what's inside...

Just opened one up... inside, a most perfectly beautiful chick, formed all the way down to the toenails and egg tooth and feathers, but with the yolk still out and the inner membranes seemed shrunken around her. I feel like crying. Don't have the spine to open up the other 3 just yet. :(

Awww :hugsI am sorry only one chick hatched but at least one did hatch........:love

I know it's sad, but it's nature. There's nothing you could've done to prevent it since you had a hen set them
it is not natural.....it is a fallen world.

So sorrry about your loss. Is there anyway you could get some day olds to give to your broody hen so you have more than just the one little chick?

Oh yes! After the 7 eggs got broken, we figured we might end up with few/no hatchlings given that they were all shipped and the odds were lower to begin with, so I put in an order for 6 day-olds to be shipped to us. They actually arrived on Hatch Day, so the timing worked out quite well. All the chicks were instantly bonded to each other and to Mama Hen. We have lost a couple, one the day they arrived and one just last night (she was a bit weaker than the rest, perhaps just failure to thrive?) but the rest are all doing wonderfully :)

Some chicky pictures for you, hope you don't mind, I never get tired of looking at them :)
