HELP interventionist needed

It sounds like you are doing well. I've helped mine too many times (so no judgement from me!!)...the biggest issue I think I;ve had is trying to ctually get them out of the egg too fast. Now, I try to not take away so much shell that they can "fall out," and if I peel the membrane back (inside membrane with veins) I do it once there's no red veins seen when I moisten it, then leave chicky inside until it starts twisting it's own way out. Anytime I've help it upside down to encourage it to actually emerge there's leftover yolk. So, I try to let it rest even if half way out of the egg till it comes out on it's own.

Sounds nerve wracking! I'm thinking I'd love to get some eggs and hatch them in the house but with my OCD I can't imagine not knowing what that little critter was thinking and what was he gonna do next!!

Good luck!!

You are doing great. It should absorb the remaining blood and yolk & then you should be able to free the head.

Ok so here's the wrap on this one.

I freed the shell from around the head the internal membrane was tough as leather (time less than 10 minutes). I worked slow and kept it moist but she just kept peeping and rocking a little. So two hours later (of waiting not messing) when there wasn't any obvious blood anywhere I started stripping the internal membranes away from her head. She still had the bottom half of the shell on her, shell membrane and all but the internal one even after high humidity and q-tips of water and leaving her along she couldn't break it. I freed her head of all membrane ran into two very small bleeds. stopped with each one and put a moistened paper towel against it. Once her head was freed but still tucked down I moistened a long bunch of paper towels with warm water put her in a bowl with a warm wet wash cloth in the bottom and folded the paper towels to make a long not tall strip that I wrapped around the egg but not over the top and set her back in the incubator with 71% humidity, and I waited. She cheaped many good long loud cheaps. I left her alone. I read these forums I watched TV mostly I sat in the incubator room and waited. You may have seen a flurry of posts while I killed time. Listening I could hear her moving. I'd check and she was still in the egg. Once I caught her standing up. Thought 'oh any minute now' Next time I checked she was tilted slightly face down with a foot on the edge of the shell.

I came to the conclusion she couldn't climb out or jump out. I placed her on the bottom of the incubator with her little half shell so that she could push out sideway instead of basically straight up. Almost as soon as I let go she pushed out. But things were still attached. I went to the movie 'I bought a zoo' so that I could leave her finish her business.

MamaMarcy gave very good advice about the yolk and I didn't want to cut or pull the shell off if she wasn't ready. When I came home she was on the other side of the incubator, not fluffed which was weird (she might need a bath I think some gunk that should have slid off dried on). I went ahead and put her in the brooder with her sister so that she doesn't get lonely and she has a watcher to make sure she doesn't get picked on but they have been really helpful to each other up to now so I'm hopeful. There was more stuff left in her shells than most so she may not be out of the woods yet but it looks very good.

THANK YOU ALL AND BYC. I know she wouldn't have made it out of that shell without silkiechickens thread, melissa roses words and MammaMarcy's wisdom.

She was dried in very badly not sure why I didn't open the incubator until after I thought she was in a dried state and 8 of her siblings had been out awhile. While the humidity was dropping down in the 50%'sthat doesn't seem really all that low. (just the last hour or two the 3 day lockdown was 65-71%)

Thanks and when she fluffs I'll post a picture.

I tried to be very descriptive so that the next person can read and learn. Find Silkiechickens thread and read it first!!!

Her best advice was be sure and confident.
