Help! Is our she a he?!

I wish we were allowed to have roosters. As a chick this one would sleep in my hand and loved being carried. How can you tell? I'm semi new to chickens and brand new to roosters!
Pullets, regardless of breed, don't start turning red in the comb until they are close to laying eggs. A 6 week old chicks is still several months from being mature enough for egg production.
I can tell that he is an Easter Egger, due to his coloring. True Ameraucana do not come in that particular color/pattern.

:( ok, thank you. A flock of 5 will have to do then. Hopefully I can find a local farm that will take him in since we can't have roosters in the backyard! :(

And junebuggena, it makes sense because the 2 barred rock chick's we got along side this guy have pale combs. I wasn't sure if it was just because of them being different breeds.

The fleshy part above their beak on their head. With hens it turns red when they are old enough to lay. If you look at my picture, my chick's is turning red now so she is probably a he. The males turn red sooner.

Oh I see my silkies don't have that but there to young to have any way but I'm getting cochins and I think they have it

Your Silkies do have combs, it's just a different type of comb. Silkies should have 'walnut' combs, they look like a small fleshy lump at first. And it can be difficult to see due to the dark skin and crests, but the comb is still there, just hard to see.
