Help, is Repecca a Roo or a crowing hen?

:hugs Just take a deep breath and relax for a minute. You're going to keep it no matter what it is, right? I don't know if you're not legally allowed roosters, or you're just worried about your family not wanting to eat the eggs if indeed it is a cockerel. But getting in a dither is not going to change the sex of this bird. It is what it is.
I'm ok, really, I am!:fl It'll be fine!:hit Really it will.
:smack <thanks, I needed that.

Mostly family worries. Didn't really want the noise either.
Meh. I'll deal. I'm just a bit broken hearted. Silly, huh?

No it is not silly.
Throw a fit, cry, do what ever you want!

Not silly at all. Broken hearted, though? I hope that doesn't mean you are getting rid of him....
NO! I really love this one! Love em all but Repecca came to me fearlessly from day one!! Pesters me constantly while the others would run away. Sits on my lap. Never fusses when picked up. We've bonded.
I gotta decide..........
what to name him.;)

Crap Cryss....The pics over here make me think boy...

:barnie
I have not personally ever heard a hen crow.
The crowing and these pictures make me thing he is a he, for sure.

I agree, that Repecca is a roo I know I'm only a little late to the party.

With that said, I have HAD a hen that would crow! She was a little D'anver hen I bought at the county fair. We kept her and her sister away from the roosters because they were so small I was afraid they would be crushed under my leghorns. EVERYDAY she would crow right after she laid her egg. Wouldn't even sit on it. First time I heard it I thought one of my roos had something stuck in their throats!

I vote Repecca that his name!

Repecca has always been my favorite AND my problem child. She is a 6 month old Lavender Orpington. Extremely friendly, unafraid of humans since day one, craves attention and snacks.
Also, she is pigeon toed, doesn't roost, preferring to sleep in the pine shavings, is prone to sour crop, and now wears a bra. She also rules the roost.
Her brother is a gorgeous specimen, twice Repeccas size and well groomed, that I returned to the breeder in exchange for pullets. Repecca doesn't have the same sleek feathering as my Buff Orpingtons, or the smooth fan tail, but she also doesn't have the tall bouncy tail of her brother. I wondered if Lavender pullets/hens just maybe looked different than Buff. Her neck feathers get pinched a bit by the bra straps so I'm not sure about the collar feathers.
I love this chook! But I can't have a rooster! Is Repecca a crowing hen? Has anyone ever had a House ROOSTER?

I have a house rooster. His name is Shouty:

He has a cage in the house and still gets "outside time" but he also wears I chicken diaper when he roams.
