HELP LOST FOUR EGGS IN BATor with No dents or holes randomly oozing fluid

Yeah, broodies know best apparently. We still credit the lives of the ducks we did hatch even though she gave up on them half way through, because even though she gave up on them, they hatched and the ones we tried by ourselves didn't, even though we thought we finally figured out all the steps.

Anybody want to explain to the original poster how to disinfect this bacterial goo in her incubator when she has chicks about hatching in it ???

can the eggs at this point be taken out long enough to disinfect the incubator? if it was me , I would use Brinsea Incubator Disinfectant but she doesn't have that.

any ideas what you can use to disinfect an incubator during lockdown?
Best ,
Karen

I am down to one egg. Gosh. I doubt it hatches but they all had the goo oozing past ten days. I had to dispose of fifth one today. I went ahead and rinsed off the tray and left egg as it was positioned then put it back. I know you are not supposed to touch them during Lockdown, but. either way that or let it stumble around in the disgustingly goo oozing from other eggs. Either way both aren't good. If it hatches scheduled for tomorrow night. But i doubt it will. Wish me luck!

I can still smell the goo left from thr eggs even though i rinsed everything good. I didnt want to use a cleaner then risk my chances even more. In will have to soak it with dawn etc whenever im done for a whole day if i ever use it again.

I just wouldn’t trust that incubator again, though. It’s really too small to put thermo/hygrometer in and it seemed to be really uneven with heating.

When I had it, eggs were fine until lockdown, one was oozing like these, I took it into a warm steamy bathroom to open and take that one out. It read the correct temperature but the eggs were literally too hot to hold. All dead.

Do they not have super small hydroneter
I would chalk this hatch up to experience and do a thorough cleaning with bleach and Dawn. Let it air dry. If it remains odor free, you could try it again, after calibrating your equipment.
Ok i am new at this but this egg incubator is tiny and i cant fit hydrometer inside ans how exactly doi calibrate is there a tiny reasonably priced hydrometer i can purchase on ebay? Calibrate equipment as in adjust settings with another hydrometer bc one in incubator obv isn't correct and the eggs felt super hot a few times when i was rotating them and thought thar that they should never feel hot maybe slightly warm but not hot

If you take the time to read Incubating Eggs 101 in the learning center, it will teach you all you need to know. If you don't read to teach yourself, you will not learn all of the necessary details that go into successful incubation. Calibrating your equipment is only one small but very important detail of incubation. If you don't have things just right, even if you do successfully get a chick to hatch, she may have internal issues related to improper incubation management.

Omg. Do you have a other suggestion for a bs

Omg. Its a death machine. Do you have any recommendations for me that wont break my pocket book that will hatch eggs not assassinate them???
I didn't read through the entire thread, so forgive me if this has already been mentioned. A good way to try and recoup your money for the incubator is to go and get a cheap aquarium thermometer. The glass ones or the ones with a probe. Then you need to calibrate your thermometers using the ice method. If you can't actually change the temp readout, simply write down how many degrees +/- the thermometer is off. Then use that thermometer to double check the temp in your incubator and adjust it till it's reading correctly on the thermometer you calibrated. Never mind the temp the incubator says, the calibrated thermometer will be closest to true. Hope this makes sense. All incubators need to be properly calibrated before use unfortunately. Let me know if you need more help!
