Hello,

I have recently inherited a Turn-X RX4 incubator. It's from 1976 (LOL) but after setting up it came to temperature within 3 minutes and then hovered between 98-101*. It seems to work quite well and the previous owner (original owner) told me it's always worked fine for the dozen time it's been used. It came in it's original box with the original instruction booklet in great condition.

Anyway, the only issue I see is that this particular model was intended to be used with an insert when used as a hatcher. This is because the therm wafer hangs down into the incubator. Here are two pics of how the wafer hangs:

I do not want to have to make or buy a hatcher. Is there anything I can do here? I'm assuming that the chicks are not smart enough to avoid the wafer (LOL) so what would you do to accomodate hatching in this unit?

Thank you for your input,
Emily

It's just the wafers that hang low...not the heat coil. I wonder if I'd be fine just leaving it? Will it bother it to have chickies touch it? It's not wired with live electricity, I mean?
