My favorite chicken, a shy little poof ball of a bantam, has gone broody. She is hanging in the nest box almost non-stop. When I take her out of the nest boxes to collect eggs she does go eat, scratch around ect. But I'm wondering if I should let her hatch one or two? I do have roosters so it's a possibility but I just can't decide if I want to have babies...what do you think...let her try to hatch some??

Thanks everyone for your vote

ETA: Will she sit the whole time since she has been broody for a few days now?

Hehe that is kinda what I was thinking. I've never had one go broody/hatch eggs before so it should be a learning experience!

I have my second broody momma with 4 baby chicks right now...my kids love it. The first set, only 2 survived, but they are outside and still cute as can be. If another one goes broody, we will let her have at it again. Loving those chicks!!

(Just remember, mommas are protective of their chicks, make sure your toddlers are supervised around them. )

Haha ok ok, I set her up with two yesterday and I will stick some more in there today then mark 'em.
Thanks everyone:D I will go learn all I can now about this process.
