Help me decide on show chicken breed!

Hey guys! I am trying to decide on a breed of show chicken to raise! Besides Phoenix chickens which I am already getting, help me choose!

I’d just focus on the Phoenix chickens first. Once you KNOW 100% that your stock is show winning, then you can drift off into other breeds. It may take a couple years, though.

I know they are.. I'm getting them from the president and founder of the American Phoenix Breeders Association.

All are nice breeds. It just depends on what you want. Go with your heart.

If it was me, I'd probably go with Ameraucana or Brahmas, because they are reasonable layers, whereas Phoenix usually aren't.

Isabel Orpingtons and Blue Buff Brahmas are not currently recognized by the APA and Seramas are only recognized in white. (Unrecognized varieties can be harder to show and sometimes are not eligible for the top awards.)

I personally would go with silkies, however, one thing you have to take into account: they are a very popular breed to show, so to achieve top awards, your birds will need to meet every single standard and have top quality traits.

I went for Ameraucanas. High quality specimens have incredibly beautiful body type and stature.
