Are you sure he doesn’t know his name? I have walked a dog for a few months know and at the start he acted like he didn’t know his name, or how to sit or any command at all. He was just being ignorant. And often excited. It may take time for him to realise he won’t get if he doesn’t listen, but I bet he knows his name and simple comands.

He knows his name now. He has been with us for two years, and is doing great. We love him, his "sister" loves him, and even the cats love him!
