Help me .. duck has botulism

thank you all for your help .. Unfortunately Little Girl passed away last night from botulism.. ( I guess God needed another angel in his garden ) I went first thing this morning to buy activated charcoal in case of emergencies.. I would like to know if I suspect a duck might have botulism if I could give them the charcoal before the symptoms get worse or do I have to wait ? Also I have a 1 month old baby duckling who belongs to me is having trouble walking today is botulism contagious ( my baby wasn't around the duck that was sick ..what are the signs I should look for before it's to late ?

I wouldn’t unless you can keep them with you. Muscovy are so hated there in Florida why bring more into that situation. I’m happy to hear they are going to be rescued and safe soon.

I don’t see how she can do anything where these poor ducks are living now. Such a shame the way they are treated.

I have to order that vitamin B complex they didn't have any at the store .. I did find niacin inositol hexanicotinate 500 mg flush free .. the bottle cost 20.00 and I looked up online what I should get & this same vitamins popped up for niacin for ducklings and how to administer it .. I needed something fast because my ducklings is starting to be less active & only wants to sit down .. I also read that a niacin deficiency can be very painful for ducklings & can stunt their growth .. I just want her to be healthy after loosing little girl to botulism last night , I'm now a very worried & frightened duck mommy who doesn't want to lose her only baby duckling..

Don’t waste your money on the flush free or time released niacin they won’t help your duckling. You don’t have a TSC near you that is where the best is for our duckling Durvet liquid B complex it says injectable but we use it orally. Other feed stores may carry it call around.

I have to wait until tomorrow to go to the store. I'm desperate atm trying to help my little 1 so I did buy it praying it will help a little until I get to the pet store tomorrow

I really don't understand people , some people are just plain horrible & cruel , others lack humanity & empathy. or responsibility.. I really don't understand why the muscovy duck is so hated most people that hate them hate them because of aesthetics ( they are to ugly to like ) they also lack knowledge of just how beneficial the muscovies really are , they are great bug patrol against mosquitoes, ticks, etc .. they eat weeds instead of your prized carrots from the garden lol . They have wonderful personalities and are in general happy & gentle ducks .. another good thing about ducks in general we really get to control their population numbers unless they have irresponsible owners , contrary to what many people think very few muscovies make it to adulthood. ( at least where I live the babies are either eaten by the turtles or the blue herons will feast on every baby it can pluck out of the water ) and within 3 days the mama ducks are without ducklings mourning at the edge of the pond for her last duckling) at least that is what I witnessed
. Also because of man's arrogance they think they can abondon animals when they tire of them or they can no longer provide for them & instead of making the effort to drop them off at a shelter they drop them off at retention ponds , parks , lakes , forest etc and in this case it's the muscovies they are left to fend for themselves and then people hate them because they ( muscovies) want to live , eat , procreate just like everyone else on the planet .. & they have every right to live we punish the ducks who humans bring to foriegn lands & than we turn around and kill them because they are now considered evasive species.. I don't believe in killing innocent animals, I believe there are solutions in controlling their populations & it's a lot cheaper than euthanizing them .. ( imagine all the tax dollars we could waist on killing innocent ducks ) in the meantime I will continue to look after the ones near me & make sure they aren't being abused or if they are sick or injured I'll be near by to help save them ..
