HELP ME! I found a little egg outside! (It's not a chicken's)

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it!
I'm not exactly sure. I've been checking. I have a fan behind the lamp so it won't get that hot! The fan keeps the reflector cool to the touch. What temp should the egg be kept at?
99.5 degrees

Oh, absolutely! It's always hard to have something pass away, even when it's not your own. I've helped a few orphaned birds make their way to a rescue myself. I just wanted it to be clear for people if they stumble upon this tread down the road. I'm glad you clarified. It's great that you have a rescue nearby that accepts birds, they're becoming few and far between.

I was really surprised to find a Wildlife Rescue that accepted birds that weren't endangered. I figured those kinds of places would only take things like owls, eagles, falcons, etc.

Why is it illegal to possess wild bird feathers? Even if you just happen upon them on the ground?!

Yeah. I just got caught up. It looks like it was carried off by something to be eaten and was not yet incubated. It may be viable, but I agree I would bury it. It hasn't had the right conditions for life to start yet, so it's not alive or dead. Just an egg.

I don't know lol, its the government 😂

It might be a Pheasant egg. They look similar to the ones we found. If it is a pheasant egg, the mummy pheasant will know someone has touched their egg, and will leave their nest.
It wasn't in a nest. Its too small to be pheasant egg, and pheasant eggs aren't white.
