Help Me Identify Gender?

The first chicks are all 7-ish weeks old, all sold as sexed pullets at the local feed store. I know that sexing is not 100% though.

The first are the Buff Orpingtons, I can't tell them apart but they look exactly the same at this point.





Next up is the speckled sussex, again both look similar enough that I can't tell them apart.




The Welsummers I can tell apart so here is #1 (is it normal for it to be all puffed up like that? I haven't noticed it before)




And Welsummer #2




I've already asked about one of my EE's and was told based on coloring that it was a girl, since they all share coloring then I'm thinking we're safe with those.

Lastly this Barred Rock is about 5 weeks old and has me a bit worried.

2 Buffs are most likely girls

The 2 Sussex look a bit iffy to me but then again, some sussex hens have big combs....

Welsummer #1 looks like a girl, it might be sick..have you checked for mites or ticks?

Welsummer # 2 looks a bit roostery to me. Wellie hens don't have big combs.

And I'm 99% sure you're barred rock is a boy. Big comb and wattles, and BR Boys have more white than hens..

Here's a pic of my barred rock full grown..they do have a lot of red to them.
And my speckled Sussex, still a pullet..
My Welsummer..well, I just sold her..as you can see, the two that you have, the Welsummer and Barred Rock hens do have the large red combs.
Not sure what my pullet Sussex will have. She has more comb than when this pic was taken, even from last week. Starting to turn red.

I think they're all pullets.
The buff orps can be slow to mature, so they're the ones I'd keep an eye on. The rest of them feather out differently male vs female and those are all girls.

How do I check for mites or ticks? And wouldn't they all have them if one was exposed? They've only been outside for one week in a brand new coop that was built just for them, before that they were in a brooder in the basement that was just for them as well, we've never had chickens before.

I was kind of figuring that the BR was a boy, I've read a few threads about BRs and they have said that if they have red combs and wattles by this age then it's a roo.

I just realized if they are all pullets except for the BR that would be 9 out of 10 and that's the accuracy that hatchery sexi guarantees right?

Yep 90%.....Maybe it's not ticks, he could just be cold...My chicks fluff up to trap heat under their feathers next to their bodies when they're cold.

Well that doesn't say much for hatchery sexing then if a lot are worrisome! I'm kind of worried because 4 of these (1 wellie, 1 SS, 1 BO and 1EE) are for our friends. I don't want them to end up with roosters and I don't want to either!
