Help me identify this animal

hi everyone
A family member of mine found this bird/goose (?) in their yard the other day. I have attached a picture I was sent. Does anyone know what this is and why it would be in his yard? Also, my family member said the hair on his head went up and down when he saw it. He said it seemed calm and didn’t do much (runaway or attack).

Looks like a Muscovy.

Yes, that is a Muscovy, and most likely a drake.

It's a muscovy drake, huge crest though. Does your family member still have it?

That's a Muscovy drake. It could have escaped from a neighbor. Or in some parts of the US there are wild populations "descended from escaped domestic flocks".
