Help me pick out chick breeds?

No, pick as many as you want!

We'll probably end up getting one of each breed we like out of those, and I have to say I completely agree with your 'wanted brown eggs'. I LOVE brown eggs! It's just something that I've always liked.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, that is important. Americanas are pretty! We had one, and she was gorgeous.

I have to say I've never seen any type of Wyandottes before, but from pictures and paintings they do look pretty.

Thank you, this was very helpful! Yeah, I have never seen/touched a Leghorn, but they seemed to be popular. Thanks for the info.

Here is a link to the wyandotte thread; it has lots of pictures: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=279470

We have 2 BL Australorps (1's a roo) chickie's and they are by FAR the sweetest! Then come our little BO and then the EE and GLW...there my "handfuls" LOL...but PRETTY! Only had them for a few days now but can already see there little personalities developing!

Black Australorps are my favorites. I love the shiny black feathers with the green sheen! They lay huge brown eggs too. They definitely have personality, some shy, some outgoing, some sweet, some a little quacked....

I love Buff Orpies too. Mine have been quiet and sweet. They go broody alot so that is either a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it.

We just ordered our first chicks so haven't had any experience with them but for what it's worth after MUCH research we ordered 5 Amerucanas, 2 Black Australorp, 2 SLW, 2 BR, 2 BO, 2 Welsummers, and 1 Welsummer roo. Ask this question again in 6 months and I'll be much more helpful!

I have black australorps and they are pretty friendly. Properly socialized, they would be good pets and they are good layers. Red Stars and Black Stars are also very friendly, especially the Reds, and they are terrific layers.

Good luck,

UGCM
