Hmm...it's hard to tell at this age. If I had to guess, I'd say the grey one was more likely a roo. See how the crest goes back a little bit and he/she has a good start to a comb? In my experience, silkie hens don't normally get their combs until they're older. Not sure on the black one. I can always sex mine at 2 1/2 or 3 months old. Keep us updated!

I would lean toward pullets. When I had Silkies, the roosters already had much more pronounced walnut combs even at a few months old and the hens were more flat like your two kids there. No guarantees of course, but if I were a betting person I would say hens.

It is possible that my kids just had really large combs though... It might be possible to guess based on how they act though... my roosters were very conscious about what was going on around them, watching actively and with interest. My hens were all kind of just sitting contentedly most of the time even as chicks. The noticed I was there, but were not guarding the flock.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

At 4 months I'm thinking the grey one is a pullet. Non bearded obviously

The black one, I almost feel like doesn't even have a walnut comb? Will also note that I have a very hard time telling my blues from my blacks in Silkies. Still looks like a very small comb. So either female or late developing male.

They are both beautiful babies! :love
