help me with my chick!! please! gender and breed.

The tanish chick seems like the leader. And it grew way faster then the rest. Im hoping not males.

well roosters arent the end of the world they are good to have around if you have local predators

well don't jump the gun just yet it still is really early to tell if its a rooster i have seen hen act more like roosters then some roosters do

yeah sorry i couldn't be of more help their are several dozen breeds of chicken out their and some look very much alike. It sucks but this time, time will actually have to tell. Through I'm leaning towards a Wyandotte,or a Sussex it will be fun finding out through

Easier to tell as they get older. Not to mention the pattern they first grow in is somehow not usually the pattern they will have as adults.

yeah i saw a bird that was born a light tan brown turn almost white when it feathered out it's really fun to see them do the chick to bird transformation

Here is an update on my chicks. all are doing very well so far. I am positive about the chick in earlier post, it is in deed a roo!! Looking for a home, if anyone from North New Jersey is interested please contact me. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about breed/gender of the rest. Im hoping that they are pullets. They were all the same size when i got them about 5 weeks ago. So far the other 4 are growing at the same rate, and no red in comb, fingers crossed!
Also, can someone tell me how to get the whiter chicks cleaned? They enjoyed some watermelon last week end and are now a little sticky and dirty!!

well if the reason you are wanting to get rid of the rooster is because of the crow may i suggest a rooster collar (you can put that into a search engine to find the sell page) in theory it keeps them from getting the air together for a crow so the crow sounds like a rusty door hinge instead of a blow your hat off crow but i think having a rooster is good because a good roo will die to protect your Lady's. but if you still are looking to re-home him may i also suggest the "free to a good home" page? that way you have a higher chance at getting him a good home then a place in someones freezer.

allso a sink with warm water but no soap just make sure they have a good place to dry off because if they roll in the mud...well you get the picture.
