Last week I finally had to admit to myself that I am soon to be overrun with chickens.
I have 13 (see signature) 2 of them are roos, one hen I promised to rehome, though no one seems to want her.
Next week, I will be getting 25 chicks in the mail. 2 are for my boss (who is giving me 2 hens at the same time he picks up his chicks) 8 are red broilers that I do not intend to keep. The rest are straight run BO's and speckled sussex and I will keep all pullets and one cockeral of each breed.
The next week, I have 25 project chicks from Alohachickens coming. I will keep 1 cockeral and all of the pullets who are large enough and pretty enough to keep breeding toward perfection.
This puts me at 63 total chickens, at least for a while.
ouch.
Legally, I am only allowed 24.
But I am on 1.2 acres and who is really gonna count my chickens?
Even so, I feel the need to delude myself into a form of denial which makes my numbers seem more sane. I need the help of an expert mathematician, I can only count down to 26 on my own, and its still too many. I need room to breed them!

I am still new to chicken math and I only got down to 30 for you so you still did better than me.

If my count is correct it seems you only have 12 chickens due to the fact that in chicken math, chicks are not counted as chickens, and you promised to rehome one. Now, I am not an expert at chicken math, but thats my estimate, until they grow up.

They should and if they don't, just direct them here.

I am sure one of the experts would be willing to enlighten them on the subject of chicken math!
