Need some help! We have had backyard chickens for three years now. Our one hen gets broody every spring, the first time we tried to break it but then gave up and got her hatching eggs. She was a great mom had a little trouble when the babies first hatched, but then raised them like a pro. We ended up giving the chicks away when then were 1 month old. This year we were down a hen and decided to keep all 3 babies until we knew which were hens and keep those. But suddenly when the chicks hit 2 months old she started attaching them like crazy (same time as she started laying again). She chases them won’t let them eat and pecks their feathers out!! Help what did we do wrong? Do I remove all the chicks or give them away?? Our other hen is just fine with them but the mom went nuts. She seems better with the older chick who we suspect is a rooster. Does the type of chicken matter? She is an Easter Egger the chicks are Wyandottes and frizzles.
