The problem with her keeping the string inside is that it is very likely to ball up in her intestines and cause a blockage. If you can pull on it and get it out then you should. A blocked intestine is a nasty way to die.

we cut it, it was to far back and i was in such a panick my mom had to do it, she drank. i think shes ok, for now. Im never buying tractor supply chicks AGAIN!! one swallows string one has a scissor beak, jeeze they didnt even have chick starter when we got them.

i bought some rhode island reds one time from them and they where fine birds but something liked em better than me.less than a week i was cleaned out
