Did you ever get this resolved and is your chicken okay? My 4 month old pullet plucked my inexpensive earring right out of my ear today and I could not believe she ate it. I am worried about the post portion of it in her gizzard. Please let me know how you made out. Thanks.

Welcome!!!

Chickens eat all kinds of things... including rocks, nuts, bolts, nails if they can find them. I would be worried about the stone's setting myself. It may pass, or it may be kept in the gizzard and used with rocks to grind up food. I've found all kinds of weird things in gizzards when I butcher birds.

I suppose you can expect it to pass in anywhere from a day to weeks later minus any metal if it is soft. If one of my birds ate my earring... well mine aren't really pets so I would probably be having chicken dinner!
What do you mean by, “I supposed you can expect it to pass anywhere… minus any metal if it is soft” does that mean if the jewelry is metal it won’t pass? My chicken ate a necklace with a long chain and is located near the intestine. Not sure if it will pass or break down :(

I would place said pullet in a mini brooder/cage (whatever you have) with feed and water and wait for her to poop. Should pass in a day and it shouldn't hurt her.

You'll be one of the only people I know who has a chicken that can sh*t* diamonds lol.
My chicken ate a necklace and is located near or in her intestine, what do you think I should do?

I am sorry, this could be really bad for her. I don't have any advice for you, but keep us posted. I quit wearing any jewelry around my girls for that very reason, they peck at my rings and I was worried about losing a stone...that is crazy that she just took it right off of your ear.
My chicken ate a whole necklace and it’s located in or near her intestine, worried she won’t make it :( any advice?
