Help! My chickens foot is turning black!

Hi,

I’m a second year chicken owner and I have a chicken that I inherited from a neighbor. She has been fine for the past few months, but now she developed a inflamed wattle with a scab over it and then a few days later her toes started to get sores and turn black. I’m not sure what to do and I can’t find anything on the internet that looks like this. I have been soaking her in warm soapy water for 20 mins every night and then rubbing her legs down with Vaseline. Can anyone give me a better idea of what I’m looking at?

I think the facial lesion looks like cancer, while the feet look to have some bumblefoot on the pads and possible injury or bites/pecks. I would soak the feet in warm Epsom salts and attempt to treat the bumblefoot.

There are 2 viruses in chickens that can cause skin cancers. Here is some reading about bumblefoot:
