HELP!!! My chicks have worms

I noticed tonight while cleaning out my brooder (which I am using pine shavings as bedding) that there were some little white worms in the bedding... I just cleaned it a week ago and there were none... what are they and what can I do??? I have 13 chicks 7 of which are 3 weeks old and 6 that are 1 week old... I am new at this and would appreciate all the advise I can get

Are you sure they were from your chickens and not maggots from flies?

they looked a little too big to be maggots...they were an off white color and approx. 3/8" long... all the maggots I have ever seen have been smaller... there have been a few flies in with them (atleast until the chicks catch them) so I guess thats always a possibility

Try Predators and Pests
or Emergencies and Diseases (my first choice)
someone will know what to do
you are going to have to give them something to 'clean them out'
but I dont' know what it is

I know chicks can get worms but it kinda sound like it may be maggots from flies if its in the old bedding and not thier fresh droppings. I'm no expert. Maybe a picture can help too so someone could identify it.

I am thinking you were right with the maggots in the bedding... I got in the brooder today and searched for anything moving (exept the chicks) in the new bedding and did not see any "worms"... I also poked around in their poop (not with my bare hands of course) and there was no signs of worms... I think I may have over reacted a bit as this is my first experience with raising chickens and am questioning everything that happens...thanks for your help... and any other opinions are appreciated...

there is a larvae that grows in pine trees. It is quite large and I know a guy who cultivated those thngs and used them for fish bait..

You might be finding a smaller version of them in your shavings..

intestinal worms are usually looong and not real active, but they do move.. I have seen white ones, but there might be other colors also.. I have never seen worms in a chicken..

is this larvae common in pine shavings??? I am currently getting my pine shavings from TSC and just wonder if its something I can prevent by switching to a local feed & grain company... does anyone know if DE will help prevent this???
