Hi guys,
I need your help!
I’m new to ducks but have experience with parrots, so I know signs that show if a bird is sick..
I got 5 ducklings yesterday for my brother from the street and it’s common here in Egypt during our Easter holiday..
I don’t know how old are they but I guess I a week old or something..
I found one pour duckling struggling to breath today with its beak opened, laying and there’s a sound coming out of him while breathing.. I saw him eating and drinking normally.. but he tends to lay while the others play around him.. he was so active yesterday and he quacks a lot..
So what should I do??

and what breed are they?

What is the temp in your brooder, and do they have space to move away from the heat? They look to be either Pekins or White layers.

Sadly I don’t have a heater but it’s too warm here..
It’s 17°C (62,6°F) now.. and from 23°C (73.4°F) to 25°C (77°F) in the morning and can get even warmer

Exactly what is the temp?

I’m putting a cotton cloth for them to make them feel warmer specially at night

I'm guessing they are only a few days old, they should be at around 90F. That's way too cold for them, any chance you can get them a heat lamp or heating pad?
Oh! Didn’t know that this is considered cold for them🙁 poor things😣
I will definitely get them a heat lamp tomorrow.. (I actually have a normal heater, can I turn it on and put them near it) or better a heat lamp of poultry?
And what to do about the duckling that’s breathing heavly?

A normal heater will be fine, just make sure bedding can't get near it or it may catch fire, I would still buy the heat lamp tomorrow. I'm thinking the duckling that is breathing heavily may be due to being cold, does she chirp a lot, constantly move around trying to get comfortable, or sometimes shiver or look puffed up? That would mean she is cold.

The main objective is to get them to a nice temp, and if the duckling is still breathing heavy, we will deal with that next

We have a curfew and can’t be sure if I will find it or not.. so I will use the normal heater temporary until I can find the lamp..
she just lays and keep breathing heavily and yes was chirping earlier today but she screamed when I took her away like loud chirping.. (I can hear her heavy breathing with that kind of sound that we hear if someone is sick and breathing heavily.. I feel that her airway is clogged or something Idk)..
I got her out and gave her 1cm of bronchodilator diluted in 1L of water with a syringe but she tend to scream cuz I took her away.. so I returned her back and I put them all the the diluted bronchodilator with vitamin C drops of newborns..
Maybe it’s contagious or something..
let’s hope for the best🙏🏻

I wouldn't give any more of the C and bronchodilator, very rarely is respiratory problems a problem with waterfowl unless poor management is involved. What are you feeding, and what are you using for bedding? How often is it changed?
