Please help if you can. My hen was fine yesterday, but today she has a bright red comb, closing eyes alot, not much movement or walking around at all. I didnt notice her eating. But she did drink water. She hasnt laid an egg yesterday or today. And very easy to pick up, normally she never lets me touch her. She clearly has something bothering her. Any info would be helpful. Her crop is soft and doesnt seem to be the problem. I touched her vent and she flexes her muscles. Seems ok there. Not sure what is wrong. She didnt jump up to the roosting bar this evening. She just stayed on the floor . Im worried

When i went out to her this morning, she had laid an egg last night. It was her usual egg, intact and normal. But shes still just laying there looking miserable and i noticed what looks like yolk dripping out of her vent. But how could this be? She did not lay yesterday so could she have had two eggs in side? And maybe one broke? If it broke, how do i get the shell out? If thats the case.

She may have had a soft shelled membrane that was hard to expel, possible she expelled it and another hen ate it too.

If she's got yolk dripping from her vent, then I would get her on a oral antibiotic as well. Do you have any meds on hand?
Amoxicillin is a good choice, sometime this can be found at TSC (Fish Mox/Fish Antibiotic) depending on where you live. Otherwise you can order it online.

I would still get Calcium into her and see that she's drinking.

Thank you so much for the information. But sadly just minutes after i discovered her this morning she died. I gave her water, went inside to get the calcium crumbled up and when i came back out she had given up. This was so very fast. She was so healthy and vibrant the day before this happened. A swedish flower named Astrid, with blue eyes. She was gorgeous. Miss her already. 😢
