help my hen has bubbles in her eye

I have heard of this killing most of a flock before. This also sounds like CRD Cronic Respratory Disease. Once they get over the symptoms, they are still carriers. Which will kill little ones, if exposed to those adult birds.
A friend of mine had this with his birds, he lost about 50 out of 70 birds. He tried antibotics in the water. He gave them injections. I think they had already gotten pretty bad before he started medicating them. But every chick that came close to them died. He decided to cull the rest, clean everything really well. Then start over a few months later. Since then everything is ok.

I discovered a deceased hen a few weeks ago. Next day, another hen had the bubbles in they eye along with sneezing and wheezing. My dear sweet husband had only two weeks before brought home a new rooster. I noticed he looked sickly upon arrival....so, he is taking the blame for infecting my girls! Anyway, we put antibiotics in the water for all to consume (got the antibiotics from McMurray Hatchery, online) and I doctored the sickly one with VetRx. I discovered that VetRx smells very similar to menotholatem rub that my mom put on me as a kid! One note about the antibiotics, it says do not consume eggs for a certain number of days after the giving the antibiotics. Which wasn't a problem since my hens weren't laying. So far, we have not lost another! Good luck!

My frizzle is having bubbles in his eyes and having runny eyes. He is also having this really thick mucus with some blood coming out of his nose. I have been putting VetRx in his water, under his wing, and on his comb! I have no idea what to do cause it is not working!!! :barnie I need answers quick please its getting worse!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a hen with bubbles in one of her eyes, but she is vibrant and seems well. Can I just isolate her and treat her eye with an eye ointment, as well as give her antibiotics? Or do I have to treat the rest of my girls with the antibiotics too? My infected girl is an 8 month old Ameracauna - ready to lay. I have two 4 month old lavender coronation sussex, plus two little 3 month old mixes.

I have a new mum hen with her 4 chicks in the garage...which will remain there till I get my outside girls sorted.

Yes it is contagious, keep her away from the others until she's better, and even after this clears up, I'd still keep her away from the rest for at least another week just to make sure.
Clean her eye with a kleenex or a q-tip, and get some VET-RX and put some on her comb, head, and under her wings.

Check your other chickens to make sure that they don't show any symptoms of illness.
Where do you get the VET-RX? I have a beautiful flock of 13 girls & a Roo. This morning when I went to let them out My huge BLK orp just hang around in the coop, unusual fit her,I went in and right away noticed clear bubbly eyes just like the pic someone posted. How long do I treat her & keep her isolated? She is so sad in the Bird ER. It’s nice & cozy with a crate & straw will she be ok alone in there,do I need to put up a roost?
Plz Help she looks so scared, wouldn’t eat her mealworms.

Just happened across this thread. I have 3 orpingtons who have had this several times. I treated it with tetracycline in the water and I honestly can't remember what else. They recover then they have flare ups of it from time to time. They have it now. One has that bubbly eye (first time I have noticed this particular symptom. They usually sound like they have a bad head cold. I am trying the regimen of 3 drops of Tylan in a small piece of bread like someone mentioned in the first part of the thread. I have 3 juveniles 3 1/2 months old that are still in a pen (since 3/1) because the are so much smaller than the other girls

i would post a pic but dont know how. she has foamy looking stuff in her eye she is the only one that has it i put her in a cage by herself just in case. please any ideas. i will post a pic soon as i figure out how to.
