Like Cherry said. I can not help you. I have never dealt with that not do I know what may be wrong. I definitely dont want to feed you lies. Those two people are very intelligent. At least one of them will be able to offer advice. There are many other knowledgeable people on BYC. Thise are just the 2 that I annoy the most. 😉

We have a in home chicken coop for the month old chickens and we use cardboard newspapers and horse bedding could it be possible they've been eating at that ?

It is hard to know if the chick may have some type of defect, such as a hernia, but most chicks with mushy chick disease (omphalitis) die within the first 2 weeks, and are very sick. Does the enlarged lower belly feel like tissue or air under the skin? Is it pooping normally? What breed is it?
