Is there a way I can get them to lay at a better time they would be shut in the coop? Idk they have weird egg laying schedules. Sometimes in the AM some times at noon today at 4:00/5 at night when everyone is home trying to enjoy dinner![]()
Eggs usually take a bit more than 24 hours to form, and hens usually do not lay in the dark.
So a hen may lay at sunup one day, lunchtime the next day, and dinnertime the next. Then she skips a day and starts the cycle over again.
Some hens do more days in a row before they skip a day, and a few rare ones seem to manage the same time every day. And of course they have to lay an egg while they're on the roost at night sometimes, just to keep us guessing

But no, I can't think of a way to keep their egg laying at a consistent time.
I've never heard of anyone training a chicken not to be noisy. But if you give them treats when they are noisy (so they will be quiet and eat), they will learn to make noise MORE often, because they want more treats

If you're sure the same one tends to start the noise, you could try what other people have suggested: finding her a new home.
