Help! My pullet's foot is broken!!!!

She's gotten worse. I can now see what's broken. It's her leg. She can only sit in a split! I have her separated, but right now I feel like there's nothing I can do.

If anybody has any advice, please post it. I've already wrapped her. I can't do a big splint; I don't have the supplies and she's just a young pullet. (barely in that stage) I'll post a pic when I can, but it may be a while since I'm crazily busy. Her "knee" joint is broken (thought that might help). She is a jersey giant so I'm afraid for her. As she grows, she'll get heavier and she needs her leg to walk. She can't walk right now and can barely stand up. Is there anything at all that I can do?

It could be. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow. I just want her to heal. She looks so terrible! But yes, I think it could be. I'll take a good look at it tomorrow to try and see for sure.

I was looking up something for someone with a turkey question earlier in the week and stumbled (pun intended) on that info. hope it helps, i just hope it's not too late. there is another post on a one legged chicken, but I hope it doesn't come to that.

With her being a heavy breed, that is an extra tough situation. You could try a "Chick Sling / Chick Chair" if you think she has a real chance at recovery. That'd probably give her the best chance by helping her stop trying to use the leg while it's healing.

I have not been on BYC much lately, but am seeing your post and am sorry to hear you lost your hen! It must have been hard to lose her. It's clear you care about your chickens individually.
