If I remember right you do it during the waneing moon. Another thing on a yellow legged bird you look at the red stripes on the legs if they are a full bright red it's said that the blood is in the legs and dubbing will create a lot less blood plus it's said they heal faster.
Never dub with a full moon, the bleeding is worse and they don't heal as fast.
