Help - My sebright egg got crushed

Quote:
Yes I do have it in an incubator and the humidity is what I am worried about. I can only get it has high as 60%. I think I will try your suggestion and mist the egg. Also, the egg is being kept upright in a small pill box bottom.
Thank you!

Yikes hope it hatches. Good luck! It feels like its going to be one of those hatching miracles

Thank you. That does seem like a good idea however in this case I would have to dip the entire egg in wax and do not think that would be good.

Yes, it since it is over the whole egg, it might cut off the oxygen supply. I think keeping the membrane moist is a good idea. But I would hesitate to spray the egg. Perhap just the right humidity in the incubator. Luckily, just a short time more. I would try to let the chick hatch itself rather than opening it.

It looks like the area that took the most amount of damage is where the air cell is supposed to be. I don't know much about the hatch process but I would think something would need to be done about this. Does anyone know at what point the chick sticks its beak through the air cell? Wouldn't it be important to maybe try and uncave this portion or the egg or perhaps make a tiny hole in that end so when the chick does start to hatch it has enough air?

Also, have you tried putting damp sponges in the incubator to boost the humidity?

Good point! But won't it get air when it breaks the membrane because the egg is cracked pretty good which is letting air flow in. I just wouldn't want to handle it much and have the membrane break. That membrane is all that is keeping the chick in to finish developing fully.
