Help - My sebright egg got crushed

I suppose it could get air if the outer shell membrane has broken along with the shell but if it hasn't then the chick would have a very small air space once it broke through the inner shell membrane. I would check to see if the outer membrane is broken along with the shell. I imagine it would have to be unless the air that was in the cell became pressurized after the cell collapsed which is unlikely. Still it makes me wonder.

I imagine it might be hard for the chick to break the membrane for air cause everything is loose due to the shell damage. Like, if it goes to peck at any part of the membrane or shell, the bits it's trying to peck at might just move away but not actually break. I think come hatch day I might make a small hole to make sure it was breathing air okay, then leave it for another day or so at 85% humidity and see if it makes any progress on its own...

I have to disagree with this.
The chick has an egg tooth so that it can break a shell. It does not need help breaking a membrane and for humans to interfere and break the membrane might cause the chick to be born prematurely and die.
