Bless her heart, here she is in my lap at the computer. Seems to calm her, but can't do this all night. Think the toilet paper good idea? At least it keeps her from twisting it underneath her.

Well I wouldn't necessarily say to give antibiotics for wry neck - even if there was some drainage to the nose because remember - the way she's holding her head will cause drainage in the nose. The original bird had some clear signs of respiratory illness. Wryneck is more often nutritional. But as you've started it, continue and you CANNOT give yogurt.

You should be giving vitamin B-complex, polyvisol, probiotics that aren't yogurt daily, and vitamin E (400-700 IU capsule contents) daily as well.

I like your saddle and neck idea! Does this help her eat/drink at all do you think? Is there a way to make a tab from the back of the tube to the saddle to help keep her neck up a little? Even tape?

I'd pad the edges of the paper towel edge a little bit - with something like a little bit of medical tape or something to keep it from cutting into her skin much. Very creative!

By the way, if you think she should be treated with antibiotics, make sure no other birds are near her at all.

Nice creativity!

Thank you threehorses. I haven't given her any antiobiotics yet, was kind a waiting for your thoughts on that. I did put velcro on it, it did keep her from twisting to the side and under her and also did cut little slits about 1/4in and folded it down around. It doesn't hold her neck up. I just took everything off and put her back in cage to see what she would do and she is eating like a pig!

I might put everything back on tho before I go to bed tonight. She is doing better already. I didn't get vitamin B tho, is there enough of that in the polyvisol?

Well the little girl wasn't doing to good this morning till I got the polivisol and the vitamin in her. Now 5 hours later she is still spassing out going backwards, in circles and tucking the neck under. The saddle and toilet paper roll seems to work for awhile but she keep trying to get out of the roll. Any suggestions of more I can do for her or is this just going to take awhile?

It definitely takes a while. And *if* this is nutritional, you'll need the actual B - as it's a B-complex and involves a number of B vitamins which aren't included in the polyvisol.

I'd leave the roll off of her, maybe put it on her for when she eats? a) that way she associates it with eating, and b) to keep the water/food from running back up into her mouth and causing aspiration.

This is never an overnight cure, no matter the cause. Sometimes these things are even inherited, happening at a certain age (though often enough they're not).

If the bird were presenting any respiratory symptoms (sneezing, coughing, excess mucus from respiratory problems not head location, congestion, eye drainage, nasal discharge particularly that with a sort of mellow cheese or sour smell, not fetid) then I'd consider pasteurella (cholera) which usually isn't that common. Because it's not presenting with these symptoms, yet, I don't think I'd treat for them just yet.

I think perhaps she's feeling better and that's the problem - she feels fiesty now.

Thank you for replying so quickly. Just gave her the 2nd dosing of vitamin E and the polyvisol in some chick starter and applesause. Going out for a little while and will pick up the B complex. Should I stop the polyvisol when giving her the B complex and how much should I give her on that and three times a day?

You're very welcome.

You can continue both the E and polyvisol - the B is added. 1/2 to 1 tablet (crushed) into some sort of wet feed daily. Once daily for all of it.

Just look at my little girl now, the one in front. No more wryneck!
