Help needed to figure out what happened to my hen and why to do about it.

I would really worry about flies, but do what you need to do to help her heal.

I understand the concern for flies, but I know flies would get at a chicken in my garage or other outbuildings as easily as they could in the coop. It doesn’t look like an open wound, so that might help?

Pretty sure flies are attracted to stench not looks....

Yes, exactly - flies are more likely to be attracted to a bloody open wound (that would have a stench) than just exposed skin.
