HELP!!!!! NEEDING ADVICE AND HELP ON DUCK EGG INCUBATING 25-30??

Pics
I kinda got lost with the day count. I know it was questionable, but now what day do you think it hatched on? And you said you were using a still air incubator. The one picture shows temp of 100. Still air should run closer to 102ish, so a couple degrees cooler could have delayed a pekin hatch.

My only issue is, there isn’t anything like that at her pond. She watches and interacts with her blended flocks everyday. She’s has a couple geese, Pekins, khaki Campbell’s, and mallards. And couple black and white ones, one with a blue head. No muscovy ever seen there. A couple of the geese are white with orange beaks and feet, the rest black grey, and one has a long black neck!

Im lost I thought you found at a pond. It is illegal to have Mallards. You probably have a hybrid duck of some kind. I would go more towards the swedish ducks, the black and white and blue one for dark or runner with Long black. She has chinese geese. Ganders are white. Females are brown/gray.

It's not a goose :) Geese aren't laying this time of year, and the beak isn't correct at all for a goose. Nor is it correct for a muscovy, as Miss Lydia had said.

This is a mallard derived duckling. Might be a purebred pekin, since your friend has those at her pond where the egg came from.

We figured the day count in my PM with her. The egg was likely on day 29 today, and one day late would not be unusual for this egg, due to the too low temperature earlier in incubation. Muscovies take 35 days, so this is much too early to be a muscovy.

I live in Florida and my geese are laying.

I have had Muscovies hatch from day 28-35 and they tend to hatch early.

It definitely is a hybrid but pekins are not dark at birth.

Do you add light for them? Or have a production breed like Chinese? I've never had my geese lay past June. It doesn't really matter since the OP's baby is definitely not a gosling, I'm just curious.

I know muscovies live feral in Florida and they're probably present in most ponds, but the OP has said that there are no muscovies in her friend's pond where the egg came from. Also, the temperature would have to be pretty high for a muscovy to hatch on day 29, and the OP's temperature was actually low. Even hybrids take 32 days to hatch when incubated at the proper temperature.

I'm not saying it's impossible that it's a hybrid, just that it's very unlikely given the information we have. Well, time will tell :)

My Muscovies hatch closer to 35 days.

Google pictures of Pekin ducklings and I think you will find some that are that color.

I have American blues and buffs. No light.
Mine lay about 2x a week during the summer and once every week or so in winter. They only lay 35-40 eggs a yr.

Keep reading, I explained why I thought it was a hybrid and I was confused.. I think two duck people wanting answers. And I am talking about a hybrid duck as she allows them all to congregate together. They are all mallards so they will mix.
