HELP!!!!! NEEDING ADVICE AND HELP ON DUCK EGG INCUBATING 25-30??

View attachment 1553197 View attachment 1553198 View attachment 1553199 View attachment 1553200 Hey all, I’ve been posting questions for advice for this egg in particular since about week two, and now I’m freaking out because i don’t know what day the eggs is on, and because this is my first time incubating I didn’t write anything down or keep track as I should have. My problem is, is that because I don’t know what day he is on, and from my calculations he is way passed due. What do I need to do? I don’t want to lose the little guy, but I also don’t want to hurt him if he doesn’t need help. I don’t exactly remember what day I found the egg, but one picture I’m uploading was taken on September 11, and he was around day 6 or day 8, which means he would past the 28 days. I’m positive it’s a duck egg, but why isn’t or hasn’t he pipped, and if he has how would I know? I’ve seen the egg giggle a few times (last night a couple) but nothing else. I’m using the little giant 9300 (still air) and The temps stay pretty consistent (most days) and the humidity can be a battle to regulate but I’ve managed to keep it where it needs to be. Which leads to my next question, at what point or time should I have him in lock down, and is it raise the humidity and lower the temp, or lower humidity and raise temp?
Lastly, if he is in fact last day 28 should I create a hole in the shell or air sac, or wait?? IM SERIOUSLY WORRIED AND STRESSING BECAUSE I JUST DONT KNOW!!! Please you all help me with any advice you can give me!!! I truly appreciate it!!!!

Ok calm down, I think everything will be fine. Is there an egg turner inside the incubator, or are you turning the egg manually? I did some calculations, and I think you did your math wrong. September 11th was 16 days ago, so 16 + 8 = 24. I would go into lockdown tomorrow, just because you are not completely sure about how old the egg is. ABSOLUTLY DO NOT MAKE A HOLE IN THE EGG! Looking at the pictures, he has not pipped the air cell. Chicks pip the air cell before they pip the egg itself. So tomorrow, put him into lockdown, and raise the humidity to about 70%. Don't change the temp if you don't have to. Keep me posted.

Hi!! Thank you so much to replying! I truly have been freaking myself out because I started out with two duck eggs (the mother was hit by a car) and the other one didn’t make it, so I’m trying to do whatever I can to make sure this little guy makes it!! This helps me a lot, and I don’t not have an egg turner, I just do it myself. Should I continue to turn him until tomorrow, and continue listing as well? And to make sure I have it correct, after lock down no more candling, turning, or misting, right?

Yes! Now I do not guarantee that he will make, but he has a good chance. You probably won't see movement for the next few days, but leave the egg in the incubator for about a week more, so if he does not hatch by Sunday of next week, he did not make it. Make sure the humidity is up to about 70%. Just fill up all the trays in the bottom of the incubator. You can candle the egg tomorrow, but DO NOT OPEN THE INCUBATOR UNTIL HE EITHER HATCHES OR YOU HAVE WAITED A WEEK! When you candle the egg you can some times see the chick moving inside. But if you were to break the egg at the air cell he would bleed to death in his egg. So continue to turn the egg until tomorrow, did you mean listening? Don't keep the egg out of the incubator for too long, the best thing to do is just to turn the eggs every once in a while, and walk away from the incubator. Here is my golden rule for incubating eggs when an incubator is set to the right settings, Keep Calm And Walk Away From The Incubator. Keep me posted!

Do we even know what species this egg is, how do you know bird hit by car laid this egg?

Yea I know its not like I listened the first time I incubated eggs, but I think I had beginners luck because I set 4 eggs, and opened the incubator every time that I walked to the incubator.

To answer your questions, there’s a pond at my friends house I go to regularly to walk around and take a break from the world basically and I feed her ducks. She has several different breeds and knows each of them apart. The reason I believe this egg is a pekin is because she was always around it (my friend told me) and was recently laid before her nieces came by and the duck followed them up to the house and not sure why or how she wandered to the road but she did and she was struck by a car. Normally she wouldn’t interfere with nests or eggs but as she watched for a couple hours no one came back to the egg and when she called to tell me what happened I volunteered to incubate the baby. And here we are.
