Help, new but concerned

This board is about people who own and care about their birds. If this is the breed you prefer, as long as you don't fight them I can't see why anyone would give you any grief. Thats like being mad at someone for owning a pit bull.

I googled Hennies - breeds of fowl whose male members resemble females. Thats interesting. I couldn't find any pics of specific names of breeds with this characteristic. Can you share some more info on these breeds and pics of adults? I,of course, would love to see pics of your babies.

thats a picture of a hatch/blue hennie i couldn't find a picture of the black/blue hennie but just imagine that the body of that bird is black. Also keep in mind that the picture is of a rooster not a hen.

I'll take pictures of the baby when my wife brings home the camera

What a beautiful breed!! Are you hatching them for eggs or showing, or just as pets?

I agree with UrbanHomesteader, I can't imagine why anyone on this forum would care what kind of chickens you raise.

Your new baby is adorable!!! Good luck with the rest of the eggs and keep the pics coming!!

localh20,

I just bought the exact same thermometer/hygrometer you have in your incubator. I must be kinda dumb, but I can't figure out which temp reading I'm supposed to be looking at. I don't know about you, but my directions didn't explain the probe or exactly what is being read for each temp.

I have my probe laying on a bag of water in my incubator while I'm trying to get the thing stable so I can set some eggs.

Can you help me out here?

Thanks a bunch,

Lori

Well you see the button that says date/temp push it until you see 2 different temps.

The top temp is the temp the meter is reading, this is also where the humidity is being read. The temp reading in the middle is the probe reading. I stopped using the probe because in my water weasel it would read 110* and then go to 50* in a matter of seconds so my probe may be defective. Good luck with your hatch though.

O and im raising these birds for show and breeding purposes. My local 4h has a division special for the "gamefowl" breed.

Thanks a lot for the info. Hopefully I can get my incubator stabilized soon and get some eggs going!!

Good luck with the showing. Do you have adult birds yet, or are you just starting out with the chicks?

I have 2 Kelso roosters, 1 Roundhead hen, and now these eggs. I ordered 3 more 1 1/2 month old birds that should be here next week sometime

Aw cute! Poor little one must be lonely I hope she has company soon.
