I have a Muscovy duckling, I had to help him out of the shell because I went to check on my ducks & their eggs and I noticed this little guy almost half way out of the shell and it was covered in ants. I helped him the rest of the way out. This was at about 2:30 pm it is now 2:20 am and he still can't hold his head up or stand up at all. He hasn't opened his eyes very much either, hardly any at all. It's like he wants to be balled up as if he was still in the the egg. He squirms around alot & moves his feet but doesnt pick his head up. He has peeped a few times.

Hello, Is he a lot smaller than the other ducklings or does he look a little deformed.?

There isn't any other ducklings, none of the other eggs have hatched. It is her first time laying eggs & it has been 39 days since my estimated day that she started sitting on them. It is now 10:05 am and he still acts the same that he did at 3:00 this morning when I went to sleep. I don't know what to do!! :(

I don't know if ants bite but I would imagine they did a number on him. Maybe he wasn't meant to hatch so yet(???) I don't know how long duck eggs are supposed to go.

oh do you have an incubator ?

Because if  you do than maybe you could keep him in there untill some of the others hatch ?

I've got him under a heat lamp in my room he stays warm. I've gotten him to drink water & eat some banana for energy. He's improving, he's actually moving his head around now & has been moving around the box.
